DaiCon 2009, MMU Cyberjaya

DaiCon (not to be confused with daikon aka white carrot), was touted to be the major ACG event for 2009. They managed to bring in Chihara Minori (j-pop artist, seiyuu [Aya Natsume, Nagato Yuki, Chiaki Minami ]) which I personally liked as well and a Maid Cafe! They pretty much had alot of side-events as posted on their website as well.

Upon arrival, I was pretty much greeted by Dell promoters (hmm, computer promotions in my ACG event?) which was a little unexpected. I proceeded to pick up my Elite tickets from the counter which I won from a GameAxis event (I should be thankful their office is just beside mine :P).

For such a large event, the amount of booths for both days were kind of disappointing. The booth that was most popular was KKNM (they came all the way from SG) and they had some moe moe janken game which made the queue uber long. The main stage was sealed with tall blue walls and was basically empty throughout the day other than cosplay performances + karaoke competition + Minorin's concert. Could have been better if they had something else going on after those stage events, preferably something random imo.

Food and drinks stall were behind the hall, but there were no signboards pointing there, which probably confused visitors during the event. Food and drinks were relatively on the cheap side, but the bad thing is that they didn't have enough tables to cater for the patrons. Food wasn't particularly outstanding, but justifiable in terms of price. You get what you pay anyway.

Cosplayer turnout was pretty good, although the numbers seem to have dropped on the second day as group cosplay was canceled and the only event that day was the concert. TL;DR, have some peektures after that long read.

Minorin's concert can be described as great. There even were a few japanese people from came all the way from Japan just to see her; and they even brought lightsticks to be shared with most of the people who attended the concert. Overall, it was rather disappointing; but could use some improvements as this was the first time EMINA Cyber hosted an ACG event.
